Dyke was designed before it was purchased by WS Gilbert.

A brief History
This section covers the history of the house which was designed by the famous architect, Norman Shaw for the Victorian painter, Frederick Goodall and built between 1870 and 1872. The house was purchased by WS Gilbert in 1890 and this section explains how Gilbert developed the property and grounds and lived there until his death by drowning in the lake in 1911.

Accommodation
This section gives details of the hotel bedrooms and suites, 9 of which are in the main house and 34 in the adjacent lodge. Photographs of different rooms are provided including the Gilbert suite with its four-poster bed.

Our Restaurant
Gilbert's Restaurant is also used for concerts and receptions. This section gives details of the history of the room and examples of typical restaurant menus.

Entertainment Guide
This section of the site gives details of the wide range of events organised by the Hotel ranging from Murder and Mystery Dinners to Gala Dinner Dances and from Dinner and Song by Candlelight to costumed performances of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. On the site you can select any month and have displayed a full list of events scheduled for that month. Alternatively, you can select a particular type of event, like an Operetta Performance over dinner, to a Summer G&S Matinee Cream Tea, and see what dates are scheduled through the year for these events.

Weddings at Grimsdyke
The hotel specialises in providing a top quality wedding service. This section gives advice on planning and booking the wedding - even the ceremony can be held at Grim's Dyke. There are details of wedding traditions, who sits at the top table and what is the form for toast and speeches. The section gives details of special wedding plans and alternative menus can be compared. Finally, costs for different wedding plans are given together with room hire rates and the costs for alternative menus. Details of all standard menus are available on the site.

This section explains why Grim's Dyke is such an ideal Business Conference venue and details the special conference packages available. Details of costs for room and equipment hire are included together with special activities like archery and clay pigeon shooting. Dimensions and facilities for each of the conference and function rooms are included together with photographs and floor plans.
